From Bootlegs to JWs

Post by brent » Wed Mar 29, 2006 8:46 am

Someone their wife has made funnies at JWs.

Get this.

This poor guy can to my door in my old neighborhood in Tulsa. First of all, Tulsa is the mini Vatican for protestants. Anyway, this guy comes to my door and I am sure is shocked, when I say, "OK, I will listen to everything that you have to say, if you listen to me first." He did! I told him the origins of his cult. Then I said, "Now, let's read MY bible, the one that is historically correct, and see what it says." He pulls out a bible and says, "Wait, we have a Greek bible." I said, "Wait! You have an English originated bible written within the last two hundred years, translated into Greek and then back again? What good is that? He put it in his case and walked next door. I stopped him. I said, "Don't go there. They are Christian Scientologists, and the two guys next door to them are homosexuals, so this block is a no-go!" About a month or two later he came by again. He rang my door bell. I came to the door. He recognized me and walked away.

I used to think, "If only Christians were as persistant to go to the door once." But, I tried it myself in my own neighborhood. People have been tainted by the JWs, Morons...uh, I mean Mormons. BUT, I have to wonder if our parents and their parents had done a better job, would those other cults have been able to develop a presence? Don't know.

I understand exactly. I have been taking the Evangelism Explosion training which is excelent. My only issue with it is going door to door. Some nights we don't get the chance to share the gospel at all because people are tainted and won't let us in. I would almost prefer to go to malls or theaters.

On the parent issue, I wish they would have done better job of presenting the gospel and being in churches where the gospel was priority. My experience was that the church was always preoccupied with speacking in tongues that winning souls.
