Rez Band top songs

Post by Disciple » Tue Nov 01, 2011 6:43 pm

I haven;t listened much to them. If you were to put together the top 12 songs to download for a newbie -- a 48 year old child of the 70's and 80's rock newbie -- then what would they be?

Muchas gracias.

I really don't know where to start but will tell you Rez is my second favorite behind Petra. Their 70's & 80's product quality puts Petra and any other CCM act from the day to shame. I have more than 12 cuts and there are tracks from each decade of music.

1. Awaiting Your Reply
2. The Struggle
3. Afrikaans
4. Military Man
5. Love Comes Down
6. Shadows
7. Silence Screams
8. Altar of Pain
9. House on Fire
10. Lovespeak
11. Lincoln's Train
12. Song and Dance
13. You Got Me Rockin
14. Richest one
15. Across These Fields Reprise

Their top 3 albums IMO are Silence Screams, Civil Rites, and Lament with Silence Screams and Shadows being my favorite songs.

You like a lot of their early works; I tried to give a broader view of all their works so maybe he could pick and choose what decade he liked.

Our list are somewhat comparable. Rez is by far my second favorite artist, maybe only Bloodgood(back in the day) or Fireflight and Skillet in current moons come even close or compare.

I have one Rez album: "Hostage". I don't think I've listened to it more than 5-6 times. Now I've listened to a couple of the favorites listed here. And... that didn't make me like them any better so I guess they aren't my cup of tea at all. I actually find it strange that anyone could list "Awaiting your reply" as a favorite. What a boring tune musically: http://grooveshark.com/s/Awaiting+Your+ ... uv9b?src=5

Great 70's rock song. I admit the song really doesn't seem to go anywhere, but the gutiar sound was raw and beefy, you know like JAH.

Which songs did you listen too? I would recommend the Silence Screams or Lament albums to start with.

Couldn't find "Lament albums". Silence screams was one of those I listened to. It was ok I guess, but the best one I've heard so far is Shadows:

Lament was their last all new material album and might be their best. It has a real earthy feel to it with some heavy blues mixed in. Some say it was a concept album with one central theme, but Glenn said if it turn out that way it was a total accident.

"Awaiting Your Reply" has a lot of resonance for me lyrically. It took me a long time to really like Wendi Kaiser's voice on a lot of their older stuff, and the lyrics were really a gateway to keep listening to "her" songs. Feel free to substitute "Waves," Broken Promises" or "Golden Road" for "Awaiting Your Reply" on their first album...

"Shadows" is a great song, and that whole album, Between Heaven 'n' Hell, is awesome. Great stuff on there, "Love Comes Down," "The Main Event," "2000," etc.

I don't think you could go wrong with any decade of Rez.

Shadows is a special song to me. I had a friend who committed suicide around the time it was released. Think of him everytime I hear it.
