Wake up: Hardest Rock Song???

Post by fcollazo » Thu Dec 22, 2011 3:09 am

Don't you guys think that "Wake Up" from the first album in 1974 is one of the heaviest songs ever recorded by Petra? I really dig the bridge, with the heavy guitar riff, and the driving drums. I always makes me feel like the rest of the album was going to be a precursor to On Fire or something like that. What do you guys think?

I like Wake Up, but for some reason Mountains & Valleys is always the first thing that always comes to mind when thinking about that album.

Yes, I do. Very rocky. Probably the song I listen to most on the first couple of albums.

I also like Grammatrain's cover of it on NSD.

I'd say the most rockin' song from the first album is Walkin' in the Light.

"I'm Not Ashamed" rocks. I think it's hard to think of just one being THE hardest rock song on the album. It was a different time back then and those were all Hard for that time.

I also agree as "Walking In the Light" being a good one to think about.

I liked the attitude of that first album. The band was new and it had something to proove....and they did. I love all those jam sessions that were built into the songs. That's what everyone was doing at the time, and Petra definitely knew what was up. I'd love to see them come unhinged again and just play.

I know it probably wouldn't sell but I would love a current album from Petra with it being just a long jam session.

I've always wanted Bob to make an instrumental rock'n'roll guitar album...

"Pethead" is not a title. It's a way of life.
