If your RF mic is here, you are screwed!!!
The US government illegally and unconstitutionally mandated broadcasters go HD. The US government became the harlot, selling itself to the telecoms and internet companies. The government is full of idiots with no idea about RF and technology. The telecoms and internet comps told the government that they have a bunch of free airspace not in use, and then showed them the 99 FFC licenses on the books (from the 60s). We all know that just about everything is wireless now. Why the goons in the government didn't know that is beyond me. So the government said "ok, we will sell you the airspace at auction for a minimum opening bid of $2M each." There was an auction and the OUR airspace was sold. Since the FCC does not answer to anyone, not even the President, we have no idea where that money went. So, the some of the wireless companies like Shure and Sennheiser accompanied the NFL, NASCAR, etc, etc to Washington DC to inform them that "if the government messes with America's sporting events, you will piss off a bunch of people and be out of office." Then of course a slew of politicians wanted their names on their own bills to clean this up. So they mandated that the companies who bought the rights to use the 700 band must develop some technology that allows their devices to detect our wireless mics, and not stomp on their carrier wave. They tried several times during live NFL games and they did not work. So, the government forced Shure and Sennheiser to pay them off...uh, I mean buy a blanket license, to allow all users to use wireless mics (before it was technically illegal), as long as they stay out of the 700s, in the 500s and 600s. There are some that developed 2 and 3 GHz and 900MHz systems, both analog and digital. Those are legal now.danielaussie wrote:I wonder why they need that band? I'm going to guess it's the next platform for UHF Mobile Internet devices, since 2.4Ghz is limited to line of site.
Operating a wireless system is now considered legal. The air space is very populated and congested. Managing wireless will be a daily, if not hourly routine. Budget systems will almost certainly not work well. We are seeing that now. We have RF mic service calls daily and when we scan for available frequencies, it is almost impossible some days to find something usable. This is going to force everyone to buy better (more expensive) systems that are agile, have hundreds, if not thousands, of frequencies, are networkable, are digitally encrypted, and have scanning and syncing functions. Why is this? Everyone will be moving again, if this retarded jack-snot mother incester at the FCC gets his way and requires all FREE AIR broadcasters STOP, forcing them to lose millions of dollars in the gar the government forced them to buy, by broadcasting only on cable, dish, etc. The government wants to sell off more airspace because they want more money.
Our government consists of moneyhungrywhores.
