God was watching out for me

Post by Petrafan4life79 » Fri Jul 30, 2004 6:43 pm

Hi guys. I know it's been forever and a day since I've posted. I have been faithfully reading, though.

Well, God was watching out for me this morning. I was in an accident with a deer. I've been driving 8 years. No accidents, no tickets, nothing! *No bragging intended :) * Anyway, I was driving along and a buck ran out at just the right moment to where I had no time to react. I didn't have time to brake, no time to swerve, nothing! I was just on the outskirts of town where the speed limit went up and I hadn't even started accelerating yet.

The hood went flying open and didn't shut til I was completely stopped. I knew there was no traffic coming so I was ok there. I called my husband and he met me, called 911 and a cop came to take down my info. The buck was killed and was just a young one, rather small. His one leg was severed off and his antlers were just hanging. We're guessing the van is done cause the grill, the radiator, one headlight, everything is all pushed in. We'll see what the collision place says next week. Everyone we've showed the van to is thinking by the hood coming open like it did prevented the deer from coming through the windshield. I've been getting lots of extra hugs from Craig today. Poor guy!

So, yeah my perfect record is ruined. I'm just glad I wasn't driving our new SUV we just got 2 weeks ago.

Anyway, thank God it wasn't any worse. Thank God for seatbelts, too! \o/ I'm sore mostly in my neck and lower back. I have had a headache all day, too, but it's tolerable. It could've been a lot worse. :?

Boy, that is scary. I'm glad you weren't hurt. I guess that's one of the hazards of living in that area.

Wow that was one scary experience!! I haven't had such an encounter yet and hope never will. But the Lord watched over you and that's definitly a reason to give Him praise despite the circumstances! In my eyes you still have a perfect driving record, it was the DEER that caused it, not you, he's the one being at fault.......
