Guys, why is the Louie situation still such an issue? I don't say that to put anybody down, I'm honestly wondering. The fact that it's still being discussed after all this time says more about the people bringing it up than anybody else. It's probably more an issue on this board than it is with the band members at this point.

There's something to be said for letting go of stuff and moving on, and I would guess the band members probably have.

And Enosh, dude, ya know I love ya, and I do get what you're saying. I love Louie and he was definitely an instrumental part of Petra's history. He was also a part of Petra when they were at their peak and when their most popular material was released. Paul and Greg weren't, and they hung in there with the band too, and they're both pretty dang good musicians. I'm glad I got the chance to see them with the Farewell lineup. All of the various band members have contributed something to Petra over the years, and it's pointless to debate whether they were "real" band members or just replacements or not. As has been pointed out by several people, everything has its season.

That being said, I've had my own issues I've had to learn to let go of. I still feel like slapping that Informer character (for those of you who have been around long enough to remember) who made the posts about Louie leaving before the band was ready to announce it, and if I could figure out a way to do so without being arrested for assault I probably would. :P  As far as I'm concerned, he/she caused a lot of trouble and seemed to enjoy knowing people were upset. They didn't make the posts out of concern for anyone, they were arrogant and thought they were being a big shot. There have been only a few times I've lost my temper over stuff someone has posted here, and that was one of them. They haven't made posts since then either, at least not under that name.

Oh well. Somebody likely would have found out about it and said something eventually. It is next to impossible with the Internet to prevent people from finding out about stuff. People may have reacted the same way no matter who made the announcement, but the lack of consideration in announcing it before the band was ready was uncalled for, and so were all the demands for insider info on what was going on between the band members.

Shell,it just is. I love you too. I don't like what I've heard, or know about Louie being let go. Period. Just don't think it was the right thing to do. It came up, so I made my opinion known again. Not arguing with anyone. It's my point of view that makes me feel the way do.

and PS. Drummers aren't musicians........they are percussionists. LOL

My drummer friends all LOVE that one. ;)

How do you get a drummer to quit playing and shut his mouth? Put some charts in front of him.

My initial question wasn't directed at you specifically, Enosh. I was thinking more of the comments by people who don't know them or their circumstances personally and how it blew up into a big thing when it first happened. I know you've worked with them and probably have more first hand experience than I do to form an opinion. I know there are those who feel Louie got a raw deal, and maybe he did. I don't know their circumstances and it's not really for me to say. And I've been posting here long enough to know some things just never go away.

I will say I have been to enough concerts and had enough contact with John over the years to know he's not a saint. I haven't had as much contact with the others, but I doubt any of them are saints. A lot of the problem, I think, is assuming they're saints and then being shocked when we discover they're not perfect. :P

Bottom line: I'm sure John and Louie were over this years ago. My take, for what it's worth: Petra changed completely a few times while Bob was away. Louie was no longer a good fit. I don't know if it was God's will, John's will or Wayne's will or all of the above. It happened. It wasn't under the best of circumstances. To coin a phrase, "Christian's aren't perfect, just forgiven." All of Petra's members are most likely saints: due to the blood of Jesus. All opf Petra's members are only men. Men have to make decisions and live with them. Sometimes that's not easy.

I know next to nothing about why Louie left, but I do know that if he hadn't I would not have my Viktor CD which I love. Things have a way of working out...

The same can be said for Greg X. Volz. "The River is Rising" is still one of my favorite CD's.

Well I admit that version would be nice to see again. But I never got to see Petra in concert at any time, I would have been at Spirit West Coast in 2000 however a stupid mix up with an ex-girlfriend and her devil for a mother happend. Which really burns me up, cause my family ended up in the same Hotel with dcTalk and both my cousins ran into Kmax out in the parking lot and Kmax went up to get Tate to sign something for them also.

I've always wanted a chance to see Petra live with Greg singing so I"m pretty excited about it. I do want a chance to see Petra with John also. See, I think there will be more reunion shows later on with John and Petra, no one has forgot about John.
