I'm just curious to see what people's opinions are.

Hard choice. Captured is loaded with excellent keyboard playing, but I still have to say I prefer Farewell because it's more up-to-date, the song selection covers more albums, and the guitar is louder.

That's kind of not fair. CITAS (or whatever) had a lot more production, a lot more opportunity for picking the right video since it was done over several nights, and a lot more songs.

I have however, voted for Farewell because I was there, because I prefer John's voice to Greg's, and because I prefer the songs on Farewell.

So, for me it is a matter of preference, not necessarily what is "better."

I like them both, but I prefer Farewell just because Greg B. and Paul are on it. It is a matter of preference; they're from totally different times in Petra's history.

I voted for Farewell but greatly enjoy CITAS. That cassette was one of my first Petra purchases years ago. I really like Bob's solo work on CITAS.

You just listed off the reasons why I prefer CITAS over Farewell. Farewell is a terrific live album, but CITAS, to me, sounds more energetic and spontaneous. I also prefer the crystal clear mix over Farewell's slightly muffled "live" sound.

That said, CITAS barely, and I mean barely, edges out Farewell in my book.

It was close, but I went with Farewell. I love Farewell, but as I've said before watching and listening to CIT&S is when I really grew to love Petra and their music.

I was at the Farewell concert, but I'm going with CITAS (went to that concert in JAX). I prefer hearing the whole, full concert. We get to hear all the ministry and stories along with the music. All the music was great from Farewell, but it wasn't like a regular concert.

The "The Race" keyboard solo on CITAS with the bass and drums is probably the best thing I've ever listened to by Petra. It just gets me jumping and dancing, it's so fast and such a musical thriller!!

I think one of the reasons that I overall prefer Farewell slightly more than CITAS is that both John and Greg sing on it. I like both voices but I tend to favor John's. If there was more keyboard on Farewell, though, it would be better.

I really wish Petra released another live album in like 1988-1993 or so. I want to know what they sounded like in concert back then. Are there any audio or video clips available of Petra concerts during that era?

I have to go with CITAS simply because it is more complete.

Nothing really cut out, everything is there including the talking, which I usually do not care for, but it is there.

Video has songs not on the CD as well as extended versions (see praise meledy).

Just all around more complete.

Farewell was nice but there was a couple things on it I didn't care for. The DVD does not really include anything new (concert) wise, but it does have a few extra's.

Regardless Farewell is the only thing we have, that I know of, with John live (with the exception of the Creation Fest video floating around on the net). Plus maybe a couple live radio things petra did (pretty wild!). :)

One of my favorite Petra moments. I love the way Greg Volz works his way around the stage and gets the crowd motivated.

Yeah it was funny watching Bob run from one side of the stage to the other in order to keep up with him. Greg had alot of energy and in my mind was at his peak when it came to his voice range. Just listen to his voice in the songs and compare them to the studio versions and you will see what I mean.

This is a very tough question because the records are so different. I gave my vote for Farewell because it is harder rocking than Captured and I am impartial to John as a vocalist-I listen to Farewell way more. It is almost a tie though because Captured is the full concert, whereas Farewell is not. I cannot compare the video yet as I don't have the Farewell dvd but I imagine it will be close. Tough call overall.
