That's pretty much what bothers me with this sort of thing too...More often than not, it's just a front for a "we hate rock music and it's evil" sort of thing. There's a place to point out where someone needs to improve, but it shouldn't be done to cover up another agenda or to humiliate them or make them look bad in public; their motive should be out of concern and to glorify God. It's unfair to single out people in the music biz, anyone who says they are a follower of Jesus should live that way and set an example.

As for Michael English's and other artists' situations--Sure, it was their own sinful behavior along with a fair amount of stupidity that got them into their situations, but I'm not totally convinced that a corrupt industry along with the public's tendency to believe they can do no wrong and put them up on a pedestal they don't belong on didn't at least contribute to their circumstances.

I know I'm about 3 months late on this thread....but I think that's Pete Orta around the 1 minute mark on the video. Looks like he enjoys every minute of his job.

In my brief surfing through Univision, my impression is that everything is done with less clothes on in Latin countries. Apparently this includes church.

It's no different than swearing preachers in Ireland.

Perfectly acceptable for the culture.

Irish have a history of killing ofr "religious" reasons and that is acceptable there too. It's way different. Every modernized culture knows that hoochie mommas are hoochie mommas. Not all profanity is profanity to all, tis true. But nudity is nudity. For a guy, it is a chance to lust. We are not to be a stumbling block. And, regardless of what cultures dictate, we are to be like Christ. There is no biblical justification of entertaining Christians with hoochie momma's. We CAN find scripture to support doing all as unto God, being the hands and feet of Christ, being in the world not of the world, letting no profane thing come from our mouths, etc.

Can you imaging Petra going to Mexico with a bunch of hoochie momma's grinding on each other, Bob, John and Greg on stage? God would be glorified and proud of spreading the gospel this way.

Stop saying "hoochie momma" and I'll forgive you for assuming my postulation that gyrating skank-bags are an acceptable way to present the gospel was not made with tongue planted firmly in cheek.

Whoa! If I may ask, what happened with Nikki Leonti? I've never read anything negative about her.

I ask because I bought Nikki Leonti's first album for my stepdaughter about three years ago...found it in a cut-out bin for like $3.99. She really liked it.

I know what you meant.

I won't say hoochie momma anymore.

last time to say hoochie momma, I promise.

I had to do some digging because I was little sketchy on the details. Turns out she was hoochie mama
No, seriously, she got pregnant while engaged. I believe she was fairly young at the time. They got married, but according to what I read they were only married for one year, and she is since remarried. It was my understanding that around the time of the first child and marraige, she left the business/ministry voluntarily, and got back in at a later time and released a second album. I don't know any details about the divorce, so I can't really comment further.

I can't throw a stone re: the baby making process. I was a preacher's kid with too much time around kids that were sent to church to get fixed. I didn't need to be taught the birds and the bees. All of my PK friends were doing the same thing on the camp bus, etc. I had no idea how close to hell I was. I was not perfect either. But, I am forgiven, and I don't do those things anymore, except when my wife makes me. (You old guys know what I am sayin, eh?) If one was to dig deep enough, one could uncover poop on ANY artist. They ALL and I do mean ALL have had issues. But don't we all?

Artists are just that: artists. They are all doing the same thing in business, and exposed to the same stuff, no matter what they sing about. As long as you keep the perspective, that they are sinners saved by grace too, then it is easier to deal with.

Artists and bands are not ordained ministers who must answer to the board, the deacons, etc. They say that they are ministering, but are no different than us. They just people paying them money to witness it. We don't. They are making a living selling Jesus in a disc, MP3 or DVD. It is spooky. This is where I CAN pick up a rock and take aim. Selling Jesus, while looking like a hooker, dancing with a bunch of hookers, and making a giant show out for yourself...that's dangerous and stupid. In my mind that is like giving God the finger.
